If you had spent any time in West Hollywood this last decade, there was a good chance you ran into a kind, friendly man roaming the streets dressed like Jesus…
To those that knew him he was simply “Kevin.”
He wasn’t crazy, he didn’t actually believe he was Jesus incarnate…he just loved the joy he could bring to strangers on the street or the love he could spread with a simple hug.
He was always more than just a guy in a robe, he was a West Hollywood icon. Aerosmith wrote “Street Jesus” about him, Lana Del Ray featured him in a video…..and he was a staple in LMFAO music videos for years….which is where I had the pleasure to first meet and work with him for years.
Every time I saw him he was full of life and kindness. Dressing as Jesus was more than just a gimmick, it was his life. He found a simple way to bring people together and personify love.
Kevin Lee Light passed away suddenly December 13, 2017 at the age of 57 after a brief pulmonary illness…..but the message he spread throughout the hearts of everyone he ever met will hopefully live on….
